In a significant development, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced that it will temporarily suspend its longstanding rule prohibiting veterans from using VA-guaranteed home loans to pay for real estate agent commissions. This decision comes after a recent backlash from veterans and real estate professionals, who argue that the rule has unfairly restricted their ability to access affordable housing options.
According to Michelle Corridon, Deputy Director of Policy at the VA, the agency will lift the rule until it completes a formal rule-making process to revisit the issue. This move is expected to provide much-needed relief to veterans who have been facing difficulties in purchasing homes due to the previous restriction.
